PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS COMMITTEE
Objectives

The Professional Standards Committee consists of three subcommittees that will worK separately and together to establish credentialing procedures for three areas:

A. Expressive Arts Therapist Committee: identifies the relevance and criteria for development of registration procedures for such therapists. Register expressive arts therapists annually. Renew registrations every two years. Maintain ethics code. Refer ethics issues to the governance committee.

B. Expressive Arts Consultant/Educator Committee:stays abreast of the expressive arts C/E field and identifies the relevance and criteria for on-going development of registration procedures for expressive arts consultant/educators. Reviews applications for registration and renews registrations every two years. Maintains a professional ethics code and refers ethics issues to the governance committee.

C. Expressive Artist Committee: The Expressive Arts Committee seeks to engage all aspects of the expressive arts practices and maintains an all-inclusive interconnecting of different Artists, such as expressive arts artists, expressive arts healers, expressive arts educators, expressive arts therapists, and other expressive arts facilitators.

The Professional Standards Committee for Expressive Arts Therapsits acts as a governing body that oversees the screening & application process for qualified candidates as Registered Expressive Arts Therapists (REAT).

The Professional Standards Committee for Expressive Arts Therapists has developed a formal application process and a Code of Ethics from which all Registered Expressive Arts Therapists abide.The development of Registration Standards and Code of Ethics for Registered Expressive Arts Therapists intends to support and maintain professionalism within its field and introduce a networking guild as part of the organization's membership.

Becoming a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist with IEATA provides an opportunity to be recognized as an outstanding Expressive Arts Therapist and be associated with a supportive network of like-minded people.

The Professional Standards Committee for Expressive Arts Consultant/Educators identifies and encourages the development of this field and its inclusion in IEATA. The committee strives to bring attention to a strand of the expressive arts which introduces multi-modal arts to a wide variety of populations and settings.

The Professional Standards Committee for Expressive Arts Consultant/Educators acts as a governing body that oversees the screening & application process for candidates seeking registration as Registered Expressive Arts Consultant/Educators (REACE) . Committee duties entail co-creating a relevant philosophical understanding of this work and a set of guiding principles which further its development. This work is being designed to meet the needs of people throughout the globe seeking: growth and education, guidance in professional settings, personal, spiritual and professional growth through expressive arts.

The Expressive Artist Committee seeks to foster the continual development of a philosophical and phenomenoligically based set of guiding principles for understanding art as an integral and transformative activity.

The Expressive Arts Committee seeks to engage all aspects of the expressive arts practices and maintains an all-inclusive interconnecting of different Artists, such as expressive arts artists, expressive arts healers, expressive arts educators, expressive arts therapists, and other expressive arts facilitators.

The Expressive Artist committee explores "inner process" of art expression and "performance process" of art.

The Committee initiates projects that encourage the exploration of these issues, and makes the work accessible in a broad range of settings.
