Hear from our Ambassadors
After my training with IEATA – CWSI as one of the ambassadors, I became more confident to facilitate the different activities with my participants. CWSI provided us with a manual that serves as the guide that is easy to follow, relatable, culture fair and most of all from the heart. I am grateful for the support of the team in many ways even though we are separated by land and seas but the connection is so close expressed by sharing our thoughts, stories, works and even greetings. Every time I received positive feedback from my participants, I always replied that it was because my CWSI family helped me to be more confident and knowledgeable in this. My heart celebrated when participants were able to experience relief, sense of acceptance and acknowledgement by the end of every session. They felt safe like what I felt in the CWSI sessions where every session is life changing and heart-warming. I wish that more practitioners and volunteers will participate in the next training sessions and together we will touch lives and make a difference. Mabuhay!
I recently participated in the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association’s (IEATA) Creative Wellness Service Initiative, facilitated by Manju Jain and Aslam Khader. I was surrounded by passionate individuals around the globe dedicated to using the power of the expressive arts to support marginalized populations and promote health and wellness. I had the opportunity to work with non-binary LGBTQIA+ adolescents in Florida and lead some enjoyable and creative wellness groups. Even though these young people face challenges like rejection from family and peers and restrictive laws like Florida’s H.B. 7111, I was able to be there for them and offer support through expressive arts workshops. It was an honor to be a part of such a positive and impactful initiative, and I’m thrilled to say that the NGO I worked with has asked me back to continue working with their non-binary LGBTQIA+ youth, young adults, and seniors! I couldn’t be more excited!
